Gloves For Life
Debbie received her first pair of Gloves For Life during her rehab stay at The Shepherd Center in Atlanta following a spinal cord injury in 2008 that resulted in C6/C7 complete quadriplegia. She said “I quickly came to realize that these gloves could provide me something that my hands no longer could “grip”.
These have been great sellers and this is especially cool as it is a Disabled owned Business, which is something we can all benefit from supporting. Available at PUSHLiving Store
Speaking with a young woman at the Tampa Push Nation Fest who had battled continued Urinary track infections since her injury (paraplegia), resulted in advice that we feel is very relevant for our community’s needs. Not only is Turmeric considered a Natural Antibiotic, but it is also a known anti-inflammatory and is great for joint pain. So a win win for those who may have these complications.
We are not going to recommend a brand, but there is a lot of research that suggests various additives and formulations can make all the difference. Also, the Curcumin in the Turmeric is the ingredient that provides the health benefits…so be sure to do your own research and get a quality product that is high in the concentrated ingredients that met your specific requirements.
Here is some information and links to get you started on selecting the best brand for you:
TURMERIC CURCUMIN POSSESSES ABILITIES TO
“First, it is important to differentiate between turmeric and curcumin. Curcumin is the active ingredient/compound in turmeric and has been used in herbal medicine for over 4,000 years in many parts of the world.
More recently, scientific research has suggested there may be benefits relating to inflammation1, indigestion (including dyspepsia, bloating, and gas), ulcerative colitis, stomach ulcers, osteoarthritis, heart disease (including atherosclerosis and lowering LDL cholesterol), blood clotting, antibacterial and antiviral properties, uveitis (a form of eye inflammation), neurodegenerative conditions (including Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, and multiple sclerosis), and even preliminary results suggesting anti-cancer properties2.
There is a wide range of turmeric and curcumin supplements that you can choose from. It is important to fully understand how these different formulations work in order to make the most out of your supplement. Here, you will learn how to choose the right turmeric/curcumin supplement for your health needs.
Recently, Deborah adopted a new puppy that she plans on training as a service dog. If you want to follow this journey you can start here.
Problem is that she has a fenced yard and the puppy was small enough to get out of the fence where she could not get in her wheelchair. An engineer friend recommended the Puppy Bumper, and now she can let the dog out without the hassle of tying her to a leash…which for now just gets tied up in her wheels!
Be sure to lace the collar through bumper as this is the best way to prevent the dog from taking it off or getting it displaced. As puppies need to go out every hour or two during potty training, it may be easier to leave on except when puppy sleeps at night. Leave it by bed and put it on before going out in the morning. Rosie doesn’t mind it at ALL and lets Deborah slip over her head with collar already attached. Buy it on Amazon.
