booster and pushliving podcast with Deborah davis

Booster Chief Policy Officer Joseph Okpaku; Never Worry About Getting Gas in your Wheelchair Again

A fascinating discussion of how a feedback form given by people with disabilities changed how a corporation decided to provide services.

It can be difficult for many with disabilities to find and get fuel for their vehicles safely and independently.

Joe, a prior Lyft Executive, who felt less and less comfortable with how they serviced wheelchair users, is now working to better serve our needs in this new and exciting role for those with disabilities who drive.

Mobile Fueling…a gas station on wheels delivering fuel to your home or convenient locations or industrial locations like campuses, work parks (while you are working, they will deliver your gas!), etc., is a way of the future.

Booster is headquartered in CA and now in Washington state, Texas, Tenn Washington DC, and Maryland and expanding quickly.

Learn how legislative and regulatory change is the key to making this available nationwide.

Building coalitions

Learn how Booster is now engaging the support of disabled organizations who know the value of this easy access.

Paralyzed Association of America, United Spinal have already begun to work together to advocate on behalf of their constituents to expand these services that have a direct and legitimate impact on people with disabilities.

Any pushback from disability has been “I don’t need it,” I am independent.”

Joe warns us about “Sliders,” a new crime advisory occurring in gas stations.

Deborah talks about being aware and being careful to reduce crime while fueling at remote gas stations.

Joe discusses a pricing algorithm that ensures we are not paying more for this convenience by cutting out the middle man and brick and mortar stations.

Environmentally friendly aspects of Booster mobile fueling are mean it is better for the environment, saving on average 40 gallons of gasoline spillage created per gas station, much going into the ground and into the atmosphere.  This spill reduction alone is significant.
