Afikim Scooter:
Perhaps the perfect scooter for sightseeing, the Full Size Breeze S4 Afkim scooter from Afikim Electric Scooters (a cool company in Israel) is a seriously beefed-up electric scooter that’s perfect for uneven terrain (brick sidewalks – I’m looking at you). The 4 wheel suspension is smooth as silk and it reclines. The most memorable feature of this scooter is it’s removable see-thru sun and rain visor sitting along the top, and it’s long and wide enough to cover you completely. Also, the scooter also has a LCD control screen and LED headlights.
While the Breeze S4 definitely has a few hiccups, such as it being so big that you can’t fit it inside a lot of places (they really need to create a place where you can attach a manual chair to your scooter so you can bring one along), it’s hard to deny how exciting this scooter is when it comes to all-day traveling.

“MVS” Wheelchair Accessible Limousine:
John Black of RO Bus and Limousine, a company in LA, California, has made the world’s only fully accessible limousine, the MVS, and no, it’s not just some really big van being called a “limo.” It’s a real, full-fledged limo created using two MV-1 vehicles (from new adapted vehicle manufacturer, VPG) and has two ramps that flip out on both sides, allowing room for up to 3 wheelers.
And the interior is totally blingtastic too – with a starry ceiling and purple track lighting, this is without question a limo made for the Push Girls, or maybe for a wedding party where a wheelchair-user is part of the picture. Freedom Shores:
“Inclusive geotourism” is the name of their game, and this incredible fully accessible resort in Campeche, Mexico (located on the Yucatan Peninsula), founded by a longtime quadriplegic and former Marine, is one of the oldest wheelchair accessible resorts in the world. It is a 2.2 acre resort that has only 9 accessible rooms, but each is “universally” accessible.
Each room has Wi-fi, roll-in showers, shower and commode chairs (so you don’t have to bring your own), and if needed – Hoyer lifts and portable ceiling lifts. They even offer PCA services for $37/day (love this) and fully-accessible chauffeured pick-up and drop-off service from the airport. A resort offering all of these services in an accessible manner is incredibly hard to find. And while you’re here, they also offer accessible fishing trips, mangrove tours and accessible swimming with dolphins.

Slap Chop:
One of the most transformative and inexpensive gadgets out there is the hand-held chopping device seen on TV, the Slap Chop. It wasn’t made for people with disabilities, but it sure is a great invention for us. This slick little gadget has internal blades that come down and chop anything – garlic, potatoes, nuts, berries, bread and vegetables. As long as a food item is pared down to fit the 5″ round chopping area, it will be chopped.
The Slap Chop will cut anything in seconds. Simply place the food under it, hit the top down and voila – lift it up and inspect your chopped goods (and every time you hit it, it will chop your food into smaller sizes). This gadget is really perfect for anyone with limited finger movement (or if you’re just tired and don’t have the energy to chop a 1/2 hour’s worth of food).
